When we had Emma Kate we had a scheduled time to induce, however, we ended up going into labor with her naturally 4 hours before it was time. I remember telling Josh the contractions were coming quick and thought it was time to head in and after a few “false alarms” he was hesitant. (haha ;))Â
Him: Are you sure you don’t want to just head in for our appointment in the morning?
Me:Â YESSSSS!!!
Thankfully we live close and got to the hospital quickly.

Because of COVID-19, it was just the two of us.
To be honest, it was absolutely perfect and the most precious time. I was so emotional in the best way and we were both just able to rest throughout the day and be together with our new little baby, Emma Kate. I remember when I had Keira we had all the family around, which was INCREDIBLE, however I enjoyed everyone’s company so much I forgot to take the time and rest — I was so exhausted and experiencing everything for the first time.

This time around I wanted to make sure and pack something for me to wear while at the hospital other than the hospital gowns and I am SO GLAD I did. I packed a nursing dress and wore it pretty much the whole time. It was nice to not be in a hospital gown and to feel a bit more fresh and like myself. 🙂
What was in my hospital bag
Trust me, you are going to want all of these things with you when you go to the hospital. Taking care of yourself as a momma is so important so that you can take care of your baby, and honestly that starts day one. <3Â
-
Cute baby swaddle and hat/headband set for photos
I personally like the ones from milkmaid goods because they are really stretchy and pretty oversized so it’s easy to swaddle your baby from the get-go!
-
Cozy and Cute outfit for baby to wear at the hospital and on his/her way home
I would bring a few just to have with you. I love the onsies that are longsleeve and have the mittens attached so they can’t scratch themselves.
-
Pacifiers
Just incase your baby is gonna be one to use a paci, it’s good to have a few with you!
-
Phone & Charger // camera
For all the pictures!
-
A few self-care essentials
Face wash, toothbrush, body wash, shampoo & conditioner, deodorant, and just a little bit of makeup.
-
Extra clothes for you & hubby
Bring a change of cute & comfy clothes to head home from the hospital in.
-
Throw Blanket
I don’t know about you, but I love being cozy and am always cold. I absolutely loved having a cozy throw blanket with me.
